Metropolitan Park District

Tacoma, Washington is blessed with a spectacular setting along the shores of Puget Sound. The majestic volcano, Mt. Rainier, rises just a short distance away.

Within this beautiful natural environment Washington's second-largest city thrives, home to bustling commerce, industry, the arts, entertainment, recreation and a wide range of other diversions.

The Metropolitan Park District includes over 75 parklands and recreational facilities in the Greater Tacoma area. The two largest, Point Defiance Park (which includesPoint Defiance Zoo and Aquarium) and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, are each over 600 acres, and rank among the jewels of the Pacific Northwest.

Tacoma parks range from simple to scintillating. From neighborhood playground to native wildlife sanctuary. From historic to modern. From quiet and peaceful to jangling with activity.

Few cities, of any size, offer the range of park experiences we have here in Tacoma. Whatever your mood, whatever your interest, whatever your reason, whatever the season . . . we have a park just waiting for you!
